Advanced Training Practice Scheme:
Workforce projections map out a serious shortfall in practice nurse numbers over the next 2 years, with increasing retirements and insufficient replacements going through training.
The Advanced Training Practice Scheme has the aim of addressing these concerns by providing placements for undergraduate nursing students in general practice. They will be the practice nurses of the future.
It is hoped that this experience will encourage and promote awareness of practice nursing as a viable career choice.
The students are trained by mentorship trained practice nurses enabling them to gain valuable experience in this area of nursing.
